Thanks to Range Mental Health for providing much needed training for the Virginia Police Department and surrounding agencies. This training specifically targeted the need to work towards de-escalation through the use of verbal communication. Currently the Virginia Police Department has approximately 12 officers trained in Crisis Intervention. With this training, the Virginia Police Department along with the Virginia Fire Department are working on ways to improve our response to those citizens in need of these services.
